What is ISO 9001 Accreditation?

Those looking at manufacturing companies for producing products may have come across the term already. Having heard mentions of ISO accreditations you may be wondering just what it means. Is this certification as important as it sounds?

At Xyfil we are proud to have been ISO 9001 accredited. Read on as we explain why you should look for companies with ISO 9001 accreditation.

Who are the ISO?

These management system standards were created by the International Organization for Standardization, and the name simplified to work across all languages as ISO (derived from the Greek term ‘isos’, meaning equal). An independent, non-governmental, international organisation, ISO seek to bring together experts to share knowledge, develop, support, innovate and provide support companies for global challenges.

What is ISO 9001?

The ISO 9001 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is a certified standard. There are over a million companies and organisations across the world certified to the ISO 9001 standard.

But what exactly is it? This standard is based on several management principles used to ensure quality. These include: a strong customer focus, motivation, and involvement of top management, plus processes for continual improvement.

ISO 9001 accreditation ensures that companies provide customers with consistent, good quality products and services. As a manufacturing company, we at Xyfil are proud of our ISO 9001 accreditation as it shows we are consistently pushing to provide our customers with only the very best.

What are the benefits of ISO 9001?

Benefits of ISO 9001 accreditation include being able to manage our employees and processes in a more efficient way, increasing productivity.

With our ability to produce 2.5 million products a month, we maintain impeccable quality and ensure the safety of our products. We have implemented rigorous methods of traceability and accountability to cover every aspect of our work to give peace of mind to our customers.

Throughout the entire manufacturing process from the moment, we begin with your product, we apply meticulous attention to detail. We are able to track each step with batch testing from flavour development, production, packaging and more, up until the product leaves our door.

Risk assessment is also a key benefit to our accreditation. In the manufacturing business risk assessment, especially where supply lines are needed, are essential. Being able to continue producing products and meeting customer demand no matter the sudden changes outside of our control, is one of our strong suits.

The pandemic has shown that many businesses struggled with supply lines in the unprecedented effects brought on by it. During the pandemic, we remained open without a single day of manufacturing lost because of our extensive strategies. We continued manufacturing and producing products for our customers by putting in place protocols to keep our staff safe and ensure the highest quality of production continued. This risk management allowed us to navigate alternatives to solve issues that arose from the pandemic by having prior plans for them just in case of this eventuality.

What does this mean from us?

Xyfil is accredited with the ISO 9001 which means that we have been independently certified to be operating according to International Standards. These standards should be what all manufacturers strive to achieve, and by being able to certify that you have reached these standards, offers you security and confidence in the handling of your products by these manufacturers. Top Vaping Stats for 2021 – World Statistics Day

The world of vaping has certainly grown over the years since its inception. From a manufacturer’s standpoint, keeping in the know with the latest trends and market changes is a must. Let’s take a look at these seven statistics on vaping in the UK for World Statistics Day. Statistics offer an intriguing insight into a topic that may give you an idea of where to take your brand next.

1. “The number of vapers globally has increased rapidly from 7 million in 2011, to 41 million in 2018”

It’s estimated by a market research group, that the number of adults who vape will reach almost 55 million by 2021. The demand for vaping has certainly grown and is a mainstay in the market; now’s as good a time as ever to join the vape industry.

2. “The UK is the second-largest market in the world for vape products worth £2.3bn in 2020”

An impressive feat only beaten by the USA, it’s nothing to be sniffed at as those numbers continue to rise.

3. “Global vape market valued at $15bn in 2020 compared to $3bn in 2016”

And this is expected to grow by 28% from 2021 to 2028 as vaping continues to grow popular with smokers. Don’t hesitate if you’re thinking of joining the vape market, now is a great time to get involved and establish your brand.

4. “77% of UK vapers used tanks rather than cartridge/pod devices”

Most UK vapers seem to prefer using refillable tank devices, with only 18% reported using pod systems. Now this has been quite a common theme over the years since the inception of vaping, disposables only becoming recently popular due to a boom, however with our next statistic it seems like the tide could be turning once again.

5. “Open system e-cigarettes are most popular with a market worth of over £10m”

Despite this, closed system kits seem to be catching up slowly but surely, with it estimated that this year there will be an increased spend in closed system kits. It seems more and more likely that there may be an increase in pod systems preference.

6. “In 2021, nearly two-thirds (65%) of those currently vaping nicotine-containing products were using E-Liquids between 1-12mg/ml”

Of these also there were 27% who used 13-20mg/ml strength E-Liquids. This is certainly interesting as it could be suggested many vapers may be moving to using less nicotine. Keep this in mind when deciding on your next E-Liquid, perhaps shortfills will be the way forward, offering vapers more control with their nicotine strength.

7. “In 2021, 95% of smokers and 93% of general population had heard of e-cigarettes”

Vaping has certainly come leaps and bounds in popularity over the last few years. And with more people aware of vaping, the more potential vapers there are out there.

It’s never been a better time to join the vaping market than now. As the market continues to grow, we at Xyfil will be here to help you whether you’re looking to expand your brand with new products or begin your journey into the vaping industry. We hope that some of these facts may have been of interest. Keep in the know with our Info Hub and contact us for more information on how we can help kick-start your business.

Why You Should Manufacture E-Liquids in the UK

We are one of the leading UK E-Liquid, personal care products and CBD manufacturers supporting brands worldwide as their businesses develop. At Xyfil, we provide end-to-end white label manufacturing services, helping you develop your brand from conception to reality. There are many reasons why manufacturing locally can benefit you when pushing your products into the market. Here are just a few of the reasons why your should manufacture in the UK, and how Xyfil can help with them.

Why manufacture in the UK?

The UK was one of the first countries in the world to introduce legislated E-Liquid product requirements and is still at the forefront in safety and quality. The UK’s regulations for safety and quality are often seen as examples of best practice and are implemented by other countries. By choosing to manufacture your products in the UK and with Xyfil, you are guaranteeing the exceptional quality and the safety of your products.

The UK and European TPD regulations are being carried ahead for other countries as the guidelines for manufacturing E-Liquids. That just shows how well-respected UK regulations are in the market.”

– Anisha, Operations Director, Xyfil

With ISO 9001 accreditation across our laboratory facilities, manufacturing processes and equipment, we at Xyfil continue to demonstrate the ability to provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Since the initialising of the E-Liquid regulations and TPD compliance, we at Xyfil have been leading the way in safe product development. We were one of the first UK companies that registered successfully compliant products. Local manufacturing means that we can offer reassurance and security with your products. Manufacture local means you can visit the premises and communicate easily with our teams throughout the entire process.

British-made means quality

As previously mentioned, the UK’s regulations for the manufacture and selling of nicotine-based products naturally translates to a higher calibre of quality when it comes to British-made E-Liquids, personal care and CBD products. With Xyfil you can trust the quality of the products manufactured by us. With ISO 7 clean rooms that can produce 2.5 million E-Liquids, CBD products and Personal care products every month, not only can we boast quality but efficiency.

We also include batch code testing for complete traceability throughout the entire process. Not only are we able to trace the individual ingredients used, but also the specific packaging, the stages of manufacture and even each person that works with the product throughout the process. Ensuring quality is how we create award-winning products.

Local manufacturing to Global Distribution

Whether you are looking to sell solely in the UK, arguably one of the biggest vaping markets in the world, or across the seas, Xyfil can help you there. We are well connected in the industry with retailers and distributors across the UK, continental Europe, UAE, Middle East and USA. With an option of on-site warehouse storage for businesses with limited space, we can also offer logistical support to get your products where they need to be. With 10 years of experience under our belt, we can help manage your supply chain through drop-shipping to local retailers and customers across the UK and beyond.

It’s never been easier to reach a global market than it is with Xyfil. Not only this, but we are entirely flexible to changes in the market by offering bespoke services should things change. From changes in regulations that require packaging to be re-printed, we can offer our services to amend these labels, re-label and package your products and then have them distributed back into the market.

Why you should work with Xyfil for E-Liquid Manufacture

At Xyfil we provide support to brands as seen by the dedication to our white label services. Many manufacturers in the market began with their own brand of E-Liquids first before turning to help others get a step in the E-Liquid market; but we have been supporting independent brands since the very get-go, with systems in place that help support and build others.

An important consideration for anyone selecting a manufacturing partner should always be the risk management strategy of their manufacturing partners. The pandemic has taught the world many things about being able to assess and deal with issues caused by broken trade lines. Xyfil has a well thought out risk management strategy in place for every single component in our production and we operate a preferential UK supply chain policy in which we also evaluate the risk strategies of our own suppliers before engaging with them – we have back-ups for our back-ups!

During the pandemic, Brexit and supply shortages over the last two years, our strategies have been tested and proved through these rough seas without a single day of production lost.

How To Launch Your E-Liquid Brand in 2021.

Getting To Grips With The Market

In the 5 years between 2014 and 2019, e-cigarette sales rose by $12.3billion, and estimates suggest the current number of adults who vape could be around 55 million. With the industry growing quicker than ever before, there has never been a better time to launch your e-cigarette brand on the vape market. As a leading CBD and E-liquid manufacturer with clients worldwide, we know better than most the challenges faced by new producers breaking into the market. Let us talk you through the launch process.

Gaining Legal Recognition

So, you’ve worked with a top team of producers, manufacturers and designers – maybe us! - to turn your product ideas into a tangible, ready-to-market product. Nice work. What next?

As you might expect, there’s a good number of regulations you’ll need to be compliant with, along with gaining respective approvals, before you can sell on the market legally. In the UK, these are governed by the MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).

The TRPR (Tobacco and Related Products Regulations Act) updated by the EU Exit Amendment 2020 is your main point of essential compliance, and producers must submit information about their products to the MHRA to ensure full compliance via the MHRA Submissions Portal and European Common Entry Gate (EU-CEG). Submission is recommended six months before you intend to put your product on the market for sale. Turnaround time from submission to receiving approval can take up to 60 days, and fees do apply.

As producer, it is your responsibility to ensure your products comply with TRPR requirements. Once the MHRA are satisfied your product complies, it is recorded as “declared” and you are free to supply your product for public sale in the UK. Our compliance team can help with this process to make sure that everything is up to standards.

The Perfect Marketing Window

Receiving legal status is half the battle. Once you’re confident you can place your product on store shelves with ease, it could be all too easy to take your foot off the gas. But don’t stop here! This is the perfect opportunity to amp up your marketing campaign to increase your audience and generate your first sales.

Make the most of your social media channels: post partnership content or discount codes for purchases through your new suppliers to direct traffic. Paid promotions across your platforms will also be a great opportunity to capture new potential customers who may not already be aware of your brand. Recent newcomers, JUUL, had excellent success with these techniques back in 2017 – their social media engagement rose from a monthly average of 765 in 2015 to 30,565 in 2017, and they managed to capture more than half of the entire e-cigarette market share by the end of 2017!

Time To Get Started!

Hopefully, our handy run down of launching an E-liquid brand on the market has given you a better understanding of how the process works. While it can seem overwhelming, being prepared and consulting the experts are some sure-fire ways to make your first product launch as smooth and seamless as possible.
